Yes, especially if he already likes T-shirts. The difference between a good groom gift and random wedding merch is whether the shirt feels like something he would actually choose. Find the T-shirt he already wears constantly. Crew or V-neck? Closer fit or relaxed? Lightweight or more substantial? Graphic or simple? Black, yet again? His favorite shirt is useful evidence. Look at the whole shirt, not just the word on it. GROOM can look fantastic when the typography, scale, placement, print, color, garment, and fit all work together. A clever saying does not automatically make a good design, and a simple word does not automatically make a boring one. GROOM is the obvious classic, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with obvious. HUSBAND, JUST MARRIED, a wedding date, destination, nickname, inside joke, or something with barely any visible wedding reference can work too. The saying does not have to prove how clever you are. The bachelor trip, travel day, a casual welcome event, wedding morning, getting-ready photos, the after-party, farewell brunch, and honeymoon travel are all natural possibilities. You do not need to build an itinerary around the shirt. Pick the moment where a T-shirt already makes sense and let the wedding connection make it more fun. They can, but they do not need to. You can wear the exact same design, use BRIDE and GROOM in the same visual style, coordinate colors or graphics, or choose two completely different shirts that happen to look great together. Only if there is a reason you like the idea. First decide what the shirts are doing: are they gifts, part of a group moment, or both? If they are mainly gifts, each guy actually liking his shirt matters more. If they are mainly for wedding morning or a group photo, visual coordination matters more. If they need to do both jobs, look for genuinely good shirts with enough shared design DNA to make the group feel connected. For most men, it is a good idea, although it is not mandatory. A wedding can mean hours in formal clothes, nerves, photographs, heat, dinner, dancing, and a lot of time before the jacket finally comes off. A good base layer can help manage moisture, improve comfort, help the dress shirt sit more cleanly, and put another layer between perspiration and the dress shirt. Look for breathability, softness, moisture management, a fit that layers without bulk, and enough length to stay tucked. A regular graphic T-shirt? Usually no, especially underneath a white or light-colored dress shirt. Part of the graphic may show through, which is probably not the look you had in mind.
